2010 HIGH ALTITUDE REVEGETATION SUMMER FIELD TOUR

of

Revegetation Sites West of Salt Lake City, Utah

Sponsored by the

High Altitude Revegetation Committee

August 5 and 6, 2010

The High Altitude Revegetation Committee, through Colorado State University, invites you to the 36th annual High Altitude Revegetation Summer Field Tour.  These FREE annual Summer Tours give us a chance to visit various types of disturbed areas and take a close-up look at reclamation projects in action.  The tour this year will be held in the Salt Lake City, Utah area and will focus on mine land reclamation.  On the first day, we will visit the Kennecott Copper mine site to view reclamation activities associated with their tailings pond, old smelting and processing facilities, and waste dumps.  The second day will be spent in the Tooele, Utah area visiting several Mine Reclamation Sites and conclude at Eureka, Utah, which is a Superfund Remediation Site.

As always, we invite your family and friends to accompany you.  No fees or preregistration is necessary – just show up Thursday morning before 9:00 a.m., and provide your own picnic lunches for both days.  Come prepared for both days with personal outdoor items such as sunscreen, insect repellent, water, rain gear, hat, etc.  The Thursday evening barbeque is free, and we will take a final Ňnose countÓ on Thursday morning to know how many will attend.  If you know you will be attending, it would be helpful if you could email Lynn Kunzler at lynnkunzler@utah.gov by July 10 with an approximate number that will be attending the barbeque so that the caterer can be prepared.
